The remaining nine often fall into alcohol and drug abuse, embark on criminal careers, end up in prison, or commit suicide&#8230; This is due to traumatic experiences, the absence of family support, and numerous broken relationships and attachments. For many young people, this leads to low frustration tolerance, reduced self-esteem, a continued search for identity, and social-emotional immaturity.<\/p>\n<p>These young people cannot be compared to their peers who have grown up in loving families. In most cases, it takes quite a while before these \u2018big kids\u2019 are able to lead an independent, adult life. It is very important that they are not left to face this bridge between adolescence and adulthood alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We help young adult orphans<\/strong> in Russia <strong>who have fallen on hard times<\/strong> by contributing to the costs of food and accommodation, medical care, legal aid, and counselling in crisis situations. His son Maxim is only 3 months old. Unfortunately, Maxim&#8217;s mum has left the family and the baby has stayed with dad.<\/p>\n<p>This is no easy task for a teenager who has spent a large part of his childhood in an orphanage. She <strong>became a mother<\/strong> <strong>at the age of 17<\/strong> and is currently looking after her 8-month-old son Vova.<\/p>\n<p>Officially, Kristina is still married, but unfortunately the marriage broke down. The relationship was characterised by alcohol abuse and domestic violence.
