Help for orphaned children in Russia

We have been supporting orphaned children in Russia since 2020 and have built a sustainable network of associations and volunteers there. Our main focus is on education, health, and emergency support for children in orphanages.

Unfortunately, we are currently facing significant restrictions in working with the country, which means our programmes can only continue there on a very limited basis.

Despite these challenges, we continue to provide targeted support to orphaned children, children with disabilities in care, and young adults who have grown up in orphanages and are in need. It is especially important to us to help those we have been supporting for many years and who still rely on our assistance.

We hope to be able to expand our programmes again in the future, as orphaned children in Russia continue to need support.

Our programmes for orphaned children in Russia:

Healthcare for orphaned children

We help orphaned children with disabilities in Russian orphanages access proper medical care and rehabilitation. For example, we contribute to the costs of a 24-hour caregiver during hospital stays, so that the child is not left alone with their fears. In addition, we provide children in orphanages with care items and assistive devices. Support in healthcare not only eases their suffering but can also improve their chances of being adopted.

Education for orphaned youth

For orphaned children who are now too old to be adopted, a good education is often the only path to a successful future. We aim to improve educational opportunities for orphaned children in Russia. To do this, we help cover the costs of tutoring, extra lessons, exam preparation, and career guidance for the young people affected. Supporting their independence and self-confidence is especially important to us.

Help for young adult orphans in need

According to Russian statistics, only one in ten young people leaving an orphanage at 18 finds a stable path in life. The remaining nine often struggle with alcohol or drug use, turn to crime, end up in prison, or take their own lives. We help young people in need by contributing to the costs of food, housing, healthcare, and legal support. A particular focus is on supporting pregnant women and young mothers.

Help for foster children with disabilities

In Russia, orphaned children with disabilities rarely find a new home. Only a few families feel able to take on this responsibility or have the necessary resources. Joining a foster family brings many everyday challenges for the child and their new family. We aim to support foster and adopted children with disabilities on their new path in life by contributing to the costs of rehabilitation, education, assistive devices, and more.
